Let's face it - it's fun to shop! And you can shop 'til you drop on Kauai's North Shore.
PRINCEVILLE
You'll find groceries, hardware, gifts and clothing all conveniently located at the Princeville Center. In addition to groceries, Foodland has a take out deli department and a great selection of Hawaiian souvenirs and gifts. At Ace Hardware you'll find hardware, garden plants, paint and more. The gift shops and galleries in the center make a stop at the Princeville Center a fun place to shop.
And keep your eyes out for Princeville's lower profile shops - they're worth seeking out. The shop at the Prince Clubhouse has resort wear, golf apparel, logo wear and gifts. There is also a great pro-shop at the Makai Clubhouse. The Princeville Resort and Hanalei Bay Resort both have gift shops chock full of beautiful clothing, gifts and jewelry.
HANALEI
You can easily spend a day exploring the community of Hanalei filled with colorful shops to serve every need. You'll find everything from fine art, designer clothing and Hawaiiana antiques to surf boards, bikinis and books. You can rent a snorkel or a kayak for an afternoon or a week, take surf lessons, hula lessons or take in a slack key guitar concert at the community center on Sunday afternoon. There's a fresh fish market and a fully stocked grocery store. Saturday mornings you'll find local produce, fresh flowers and crafts at the weekly Farmer's Market.
KILAUEA
When you're on your way to the Kilauea Lighthouse, take time to explore the town of Kilauea. There you'll find exotic imports, handmade Island Soap and Candles, clothing, art and more. You can find organic produce, local tropical fruits, vegetables and flowers at the Farmer's Markets held twice each week - Thursdays at 4:30pm at the Kilauea Neighborhood Center just off Lighthouse Road and Saturdays from 11:30am to 1pm by the Kilauea Post Office.
The Kilauea Lighthouse and Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge has a great gift shop where you can find books, maps, pictures, children's games and more all centered around Hawaii's natural environment, birds, whales, fish, plants, trees and volcanic history.
At the nearby Na 'Aina Kai Botanical Gardens and Sculpture Park on Wailapa Road, you can take a guided tour and explore their garden gift shop. For tour reservations call 828-0525.
Also nearby is the Guava Kai Plantation where you can sample guava products for sale from juice to jam. They also have natural island soaps and lotions, t-shirts and other gift items. While you are there, you can see how guava is grown and processed and explore their botanical garden.
